Ducks Are Suffering and Dying—Please Stop Using Down!
I will never purchase down products again after viewing PETA Asia’s investigation into Vietnamese slaughterhouses and duck farms that supply Responsible Down Standard-certified (RDS) feathers, in which your company was implicated. I also strongly advise your company to cease selling down products right away.
This video makes it very evident that a bird used for its feathers has an extremely painful, frightful, and distressing life. Until they are smashed into upside-down shackles, hauled through an electrified water bath, and stabbed in the neck while still awake, gentle ducks are made to dwell in filthy sheds and on barren lots covered in excrement. Later, their feathers are sold to companies who bear the Responsible Down Standard logo.
PETA has revealed cruelty in the down industry eight times now. Previous inquiries included more producers associated with “responsible” businesses. Consumers are being misled into thinking they are making kinder decisions, but as the results of this most recent investigation demonstrate, they are not. “Standards” do not shield birds from harsh, agonizing deaths or lifetime misery.
A duck’s feathers are essential. Your business doesn’t. Please switch from using down at your company to any of the numerous warm, compassionate, and environmentally friendly down-free materials that are currently available.
H&M Ditch Down!
The executives of well-known apparel company H&M believe that no animal should ever be hurt for fashion. However, the company’s financial statements paint a different picture: despite nine successive PETA exposés exposing the depravity and filth of the down industry, H&M still sells apparel adorned with duck feathers.

The management of H&M is aware of the issue with its use of down. After a PETA Asia investigation into Vietnamese duck farms and slaughterhouses blew the lid off the phony certification and even uncovered a supplier who mentioned H&M as a down recipient, the business even deleted the “responsible” down label from its U.S. online catalog. Duck protectors will organize to keep H&M accountable as long as the corporation refuses to remove their bill of materials. This is our current progress so far.
H&M’s management may have taken the word “responsible” out of the description of its down items, but anything less than a complete prohibition on down in its supply chain is like shooting ducks. PETA will continue to put pressure on the business to uphold its declared principles, which include never harming an animal.

PETA Continues to Show That Down Production Is Cruel Nine exposés published by PETA have shown that cruelty and squalor are commonplace in the down industry. Unimaginable brutality to ducks was discovered during a 13-month PETA Asia investigation into Vietnamese slaughterhouses and farms linked to businesses that market themselves as “responsible”—among them, a former supplier to H&M.
Investigators from PETA Asia observed ducks maintained on congested areas covered in excrement. There were a lot of sick-looking birds, and several of them had bloody wounds. While the birds were still awake, an employee stabbed them in the throat and hung them by their legs. After technicians sliced their necks, many of the birds kept moving for almost a minute. A responsible down is nonexistent! H&M bases its false claims about animal welfare on the ineffectual Responsible Down Standard (RDS) established by the Textile Exchange. But the RDS is obviously a scam, as PETA’s exposés show. According to research conducted by PETA Asia, workers at RDS-certified goose farms in Russia, which export their products to several nations, decapitate geese while the birds are still conscious.
Responsible down does not exist because all feathers originate from delicate, kind birds that are brutally killed. Geese and ducks are intelligent, gregarious animals. Ducks are solitary creatures, but geese form lifelong relationships and grieve for a considerable amount of time following the death of their spouse. They experience loss, anxiety, and agony just like humans. No living thing ought to be slain for clothes. You can assist suffering birds in less than a minute by alerting H&M that customers do not wish to purchase clothing that was obtained cruelly:
