Tell H&M to Stop Endorsing Abuse of Gentle Goats Cut Up for Mohair & Cashmere!
Customers should presume that all of H&M’s cashmere and mohair products came from mutilated goats because the retailer is disrespecting both animals and its customers by lifting its bans on these materials.

After a startling investigation by PETA Asia into the South African mohair sector, which exposed that workers there were mistreating, mutilating, and chopping the throats of conscious goats, H&M had already committed to discontinue sourcing mohair. Following PETA Asia’s revelation that goats wailed in agony and terror as laborers tore out their hair with sharp metal combs, the firm committed to outlawing cashmere as well. Goats are killed in slaughterhouses after being used for cashmere, and their throats are cut, leaving them to suffer until they pass away. See video here.
However, H&M has already broken its promises and is now hiding behind the misleadingly called Responsible Mohair Standard, which does not shield goats from mistreatment. In actuality, this regulation provides no protection for goats during slaughter—when workers shoot them in the head or slash their throats—and permits workers to castrate goats and amputate portions of their ears without causing them any pain. Furthermore, under the ridiculously called Good Cashmere Standard, which it helped create, H&M is returning cashmere into its collection. This criterion, among many other shortcomings, permits unskilled farmers to murder young goats by blunt force trauma and does not need the accreditation of off-farm slaughter operations, which may resemble establishments where PETA Asia witnesses employees striking goats. See video here.

Death is caused by the cashmere and mohair industries. Goats are killed if they do not perish from malnutrition, brutal shearing, or exposure. There is no cardigan or sweater that is worth this pain. See video here.
Goats and their human caretakers develop deep friendships and significant partnerships. When they’re pleased, they’ve even been seen to jump with delight and wag their tails. As so many other businesses have done, H&M needs to stop relying on deceptive “humane” labeling, give up mohair and cashmere completely, and concentrate on the amazing vegan materials it already offers in order to preserve goats and its consumers. It is evident that the firm can and will act on behalf of animals when it is put under sufficient pressure, as it has already outlawed the use of fur, exotic skins, angora, and other materials obtained from animals.
